I believe art is a universal language because it's all around us. Because I feel that art is in many forms - music, painting, tattoos, writing, pottery, weaving, etc. - it abounds from state to state, country to country. Art essentially brings everyone together - while not physically, it does create an emotional experience. And, even if everyone doesn't agree or understand what a particular art form means, I feel that that we "universally" can gain an appreciation for the artists' process/undertaking to create the art form.
Now that technology has brought artistic images up close and personal, art has become even more universal. More people than ever can "download" famous paintings, listen to music instantly and even learn how to crochet. There are chat rooms which have created debate forums for those interested in art discussion and lessons. While we may not all agree on what true art is, it does often bring many together.

Hi Noelle! You're so right about the increased nature of availability and exposure to art via technology and globalism creating a new level of communicating between individuals and cultural groups.
Dialogue is of course a key part within cross-cultural understanding and having art "out there" and being talked about is a working piece of this functioning.
Good points!
